KCs & National Partnership Platforms

NPPS bring together civil society groups with the aim of more effectively responding to HIV, TB and broader health issues. Many KCs are members of NPPs in order to represent the views of their communities and are particularly active in posting stories and articles on NPP eforums. NPPs are nationally driven and owned and aim to:

  • Increase the number of people at national and regional level involved in popular discussion of HIV, AIDS, TB and broader health issues
  • Promote advocacy, partnerships and networking at local, provincial and national levels
  • Increase accountability and transparency in decision-making related to HIV, AIDS, TB and broader health issues at local, provincial and national levels
  • Disseminate relevant information, education and communication resources on HIV and related issues
  • Decrease stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS and

In Africa, NPPs exist in Namibia, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan. In Asia there are NPPs in Cambodia, India and Vietnam. More information on NPPs can be found here.

www.safaids.net – The Southern Africa Aids Information and Dissemination Service (SAfAIDS) is a key regional partner that helped to set up and manage the KC programme in Southern Africa

www.kanco.org – The Kenya AIDS Consortium (KANCO) is a key partner in Kenya. They support the management and facilitation of the NPP and KCs in Kenya

www.eannaso.org – The East Africa National Network of AIDS Service Organisations (EANNASO) is a key regional partner in East Africa that support the NPP programmes in the region

Zambian campaigners petition Minister of Health

People living with HIV have petitioned the Zambian Minister of Health, Kapembwa Simbao, over the rationing of ARVs and TB drugs in public clinics.
