Civil society organizations conducted a walk for peace to mark the South Sudan Independence celebrations this week (9 July 2011). The procession was organized by International HIV/AIDS Alliance in collaboration with its Key Correspondents in South Sudan.
The groups carried banners during the procession demonstrating advocacy messages. These included: ‘Prevent mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS’, ‘Equal rights for people living with HIV NOW!!’ and ‘The new nation demands more resources for quality integrated health services for mothers, children and people living with HIV/AIDS’.
The objective of the demonstration was to give advocacy messages on HIV prevention, maternal and neonatal health to the people of South Sudan and the world at large.
